Mr. Bryan J. Rankin is an economics graduate trained in Edinburgh as a Chartered Accountant. He subsequently became Managing Partner Scotland and Head of Corporate Finance in Scotland for KPMG. After leaving KPMG, he joined as a director, a boutique private equity firm (Northern Ventures) investing in entrepreneurial businesses in the north of the UK.
Since then he has acted as Chairman, director or consultant to a number of companies including three listed on the UK Stock Exchange. In the property world he has been a director of Caledonian Trust PLC, an AIM listed property Investment Company and Lambert Smith Hampton, a national firm of Chartered Surveyors.
Director:
Mr Grant Robertson has over 40 years of business experience having owned and managed both private and public companies in the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Asia. After working as Sales Director in the consumer electronics industry for Texet Ltd., he was Operations Director for British Telecom on their entry to North America after selling the distribution business he founded to them in 1985.
He subsequently was involved in a number of joint ventures with the John Menzies Group where they created a European network for the electronic distribution of entertainment software. He has been president of a NASDAQ publicly quoted company and on the Board of a number of European and Asian companies.
Financial Director and Company Secretary:
Mr Alistair NW Beattie qualified as a Chartered Accountant in Aberdeen in 1969 and has worked with Thompson McLintock (now part of KPMG). He has worked as accountant, Finance Director and Company Secretary with Harwells (a company with UK wide operations in the catering industry) as Partnership Secretary and Partner in Ryden (Property Consultants), as director in various Ryden Group companies in the UK, Czech Republic, Russia and South Africa and as a self employed consultant.
Non-Executive Director:
Mr Michael Steyn has 20 years experience in the real estate business having founded Steyn Lettings, a leading property management and letting agency, based in Edinburgh. Its property portfolio ranges from small studio flats to large town houses, from one bedroom flats to house of multiple occupancy, and its tenants range from professional individuals to families and students.
Ecosse Residential Property Fund - Management
The Ecosse Management’s role, amongst other things, includes managing the day to day affairs of the Partnership and, in particular, identifying, assessing and purchasing properties which fall within the predetermined criteria of the local authorities. Where necessary, advice and assistance from the Property Manager and/or the Operator and/or others will be sought by the General Partner.
The Trust will be a Limited Partner investing in the Partnership. The Trust will be managed by the Trust Manager, under the supervision of the Trustee. Where necessary advice from others will be sought by the Trustee.
The Partnership will ensure that all uninvested monies are deposited with ‘approved deposit takers’. This will be demonstrated by a reasonable credit rating from either Standard & Poors (“S&P”) or Moody’s. This will normally be reflected by a minimum short-term rating of A-2 as defined by S&P or P-2 by Moody’s.

Mr Alan J Hartley is currently Group Finance Director of Mactaggart & Mickel Group Ltd a house building company based in Scotland which has a letting portfolio of over 500 flats.
He is a director of City Legacy Ltd, City Partnership Ltd, Chairman of Governors of George Watson’s College in Edinburgh and holds a number of other director positions. He is also advisor to the Board at Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre (ESPC).
He formerly worked for over 30 years with KPMG in Edinburgh, 20 as a tax partner. He was formerly a director with Caledonian Trust PLC, an AIM listed property company and Cornelian Asset Managers Group Ltd, an investment advisory group.
He is a Chartered Accountant.
